Safety
Crime has skyrocketed in Edison under Sam Joshi. The increase in crime makes our neighborhoods less safe. It also impacts the value of our homes.
That is why a core principle of my campaign is to make Edison safe.
As Mayor, I will take measurable steps to make our neighborhoods safe. This includes:
- Replacing inflatable officers with real, active-duty police presence
- Directing more police officers to the streets and not sitting in desk jobs
- Increasing traffic enforcement
- Providing an actual police substation in North Edison that is staffed
- Holding police leadership accountable by hiring an independent police director
According to data from the New Jersey State Police Uniform Crime Reporting Unit, under Sam Joshi, Edison experienced an 82.76% surge in robberies, a 56.25% increase in assaults, a 52.72% rise in burglaries, and a 70.52% jump in total offenses between 2021 and 2023.
