Affordability
Edison families are being crushed by rising taxes and reckless financial decisions under Sam Joshi. Instead of standing up for residents, he has given tax breaks to warehouses while allowing big corporations and heavy truck traffic to burden our roads, leaving taxpayers to foot the bill. Edison’s 2024 budget introduced a 2.52% increase in the municipal tax rate, translating to an estimated $83.72 hike in property taxes for a home assessed at $225,000. Simultaneously, the township faced a significant reduction in state aid, losing over 13% (approximately $2.5 million).
That’s why my campaign is focused on cutting taxes and supporting working-class residents.
As Mayor, I will:
✔ Stop new warehouses and fix zoning to protect neighborhoods.
✔ End tax breaks for existing warehouses that don’t pay their fair share.
✔ Save the Clara Barton Library from closure.
✔ Work with the school district to restructure debt and save taxpayers money.
✔ Impose a payroll tax on large corporations with 1,500+ employees to ease the burden on residents.
✔ Tax heavy trucks that cause traffic and destroy our roads.
Edison families deserve a mayor who puts them first, not big corporations and developers. I will fight to stabilize taxes and make sure working-class residents aren’t left behind.
